Buying a new TV. What is the difference between "HD Ready" or "HD 1080p".?
I am buying a new LCD TV. Should I buy an HDTV (HD Ready guess), or an HD 1080 (better pixels or so)? Is there that much difference? What is the difference? Do I need a set-top box anyway to receive the HD signal?
UK Answer: HD Ready means the TV can display images high definition when it feeds on a HD source like HD Freesat, Sky HD, Virgin HD or Blu-ray. So, yes, you need a high definition box. This only is necessary because there is no television available today that can receive HD directly except some models that have built Panansonic Freesat HD built in. defined by the televsion industry, including scanned images in 1080p or 1080i or 720p. Most modern televsions display 1080p images, but no decoder deliver or satellite receiver. Do not believe anyone who says they will. 1080p is the highest of standards definition HD but not available in any broadcast television that or satellite service. It will not be used for broadcast at any time due to technical and cost reasons. The viewer does not have a voice in this collection he has. That's the way it is. To view images of 1080p you have to use the Blu-ray or some games consoles. Note that many Blu-ray are scanned at 720p anyway. In any smaller set of 47 "probably will not see any difference. Buy the best TV you can afford. Do not buy the cheapest you can get, although does seem "huge" for less money than the competition. "trademarks" as Grundig, Technica and other strange names should be avoided if possible because are not really as good as the equivalent size of Sony or Panasonic or Philips. You may have a less good and the reliability problems after a year or thus. For good advice on what set to buy their needs and living space to go to John Lewis. They really know what they're talking about - unlike comet or Curry or Tesco etc
